The topic of New Years "resolutions" can sometimes be toxic for people. If the resolution is to do something that may aid you from one standpoint but harm you from another, maybe it isn't the best resolution to go for. I've compiled a list of some goals/resolutions for those looking for something to work towards this new year. Hopefully you can find something you can try out that may stick with you. Before you continue reading, know that not having any goals right away or any resolutions is okay. Don't force yourself to do something you're not up for. Live at your own pace. Take care of yourself. I love u.
1. Make your bed every day
Getting into the habit of making your bed every day is something that seems small but can make quite an impact on your routine. It makes your space look more put together as well as it's a good habit to begin as it can lead to other habits that will improve your daily life.
2. Self care days
In my opinion, self care is such an important thing and I feel like many others feel the same. Having one day a week, every other week, or even every month, depending on your schedule, to take some time for yourself and do some self care is such a good habit to get into. Self care can mean something different to everyone. For me, my favourite form of self care is pampering myself by doing things like face masks, getting my nails done or doing them, bubble baths, etc. Other things you can do are watch movies, journal, write down your thoughts, etc. There are so many possibilities.
3. Cut off negative energy
In 2023, we should no longer be accepting negative energy into our life. If it doesn't serve you, let it go. Sometimes this is easier said than done, as cutting off negative energy can mean cutting off people or habits that come as second nature. This may take different amounts of time for different people, however, no matter how long it takes, it's worth it. Trust me on this. Surrounding ourselves in good energy and light is what we should be striving for this year.
4. Create a vision board
This is something I absolutely adore doing every few months. Making a vision board gives you the opportunity to figure out exactly what you want to receive from the universe and it helps you make it clear what you want to attract. As much as this is great to do for yourself, it's equally as enjoyable to do. You can make one using pictures from Pinterest, magazines, etc, or you can even make one virtually with a collage maker.
5. Set a reading goal
Personally, getting into the habit of reading consistently can be tricky. That's why I feel if a goal was set for myself, perhaps it would help me stick with it more. Depending on what you read and how often you're able to take the time to read, you can set yourself a personal goal of how many books/pages you want to read per month or per week. Reading is amazing for your brain and it's a perfect replacement for your phone at any time of the day, especially before bed.
6. Deep clean your closet
If you're anything like me, keeping your closet organized and clean is quite a challenge. It doesn't matter how many times I reorganize everything in it, 3 days after that it will be back to the same mess it was before. Despite that, cleaning my closet can still be very helpful to me. I recommend going through all of your clothes and choosing what you want to keep and what you want to give away/donate. This will open up room for new clothes and items that you will actually want to wear. It makes it much easier to navigate your closet knowing that what you have in there are all things you want to keep.
